First Cruise Liner Call at Malta after Ports Reopen

The first cruise liner arrived  at  Valletta port  on Friday the 21st of August, since ports reopened following COVID-19 closures in March. The new health and safety protocols are all in place to protect the Maltese citizens  as well as the guests and the crew on-board the cruise liner. The passengers  will not be allowed to go ashore independently, but only through booked excursions. Cruise ship companies stopped operating at Valletta when Malta closed its ports and airport in March but re-opened to travellers last month as the virus spread was contained. A recent surge in coronavirus cases in Malta has led to new restrictions being imposed on bars, nightclubs and mass events.
