K Line launches 13th vessel


Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd., (K-Line), has launched a new post-panamax containership, the Genoa Bridge, constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding Company Ltd., Japan. The vessel is the last of 5,500 TEU’s container vessel in a series of 13 newbuildings.The Genoa Bridge entered the Port of Shanghai on September 11, to start her service on the North America and Asia/Europe-Mediterranean pendulum loop.


With this new deployment, K-Line’s vessel upgrading programme together with Yang Ming Marine, was completed. Their combined new post-panamax fleet now consists of twenty 5,500 TEU’s vessels out of which 13 are fully owned by K-Line. These vessels are deployed on both transpacific and Asia/Europe-Mediterranean services.
